I've purchased maybe 4 copies of this book over the years and lost them to friends, to moving, to something. I just got another copy and I'm shocked at just how current and timely More Words that Sell actually is. It was published in 2003 but could have come out yesterday! When everyone and their brother is now selling something on the internet, the only way to stand out is write killer copy. The better you can describe the better you connect with your reading audience. Just get this book. When you're at a loss for a word, this is the book to turn to.....

I like ease of use best. Covers a wide range of different types of sales. More for closing with one to one . However I was looking more for writing text for selling fine art. I actually miss ordered. WORDS THAT SELL would had been the better choice for me. I looked at it before and it was more beneficial for what I do. If you are in a high tech business this is the one for you. I kept this book because there are still a few thin gs that are helpful to me still.

Write great product descriptions and any other sales writing with ease using this book. The index makes it a snap to find the word you want. Probaby useful for any writing actually.

Great book filled with words to use for marketing. They are categorized clear and concisely. He does a good job putting the book together and he definitely knows his topic.

Just like Richard Bayan's other book "Words that Sell" this is an invaluable resource. When writing, and looking for descriptors that paint word pictures; that make your writing become more alive and real to the reader; you can't go past some of the ideas in this book. For example the color descriptions give you a whole new perspective e.g. whiskey as a color. I for one can see that in my glass and the unique color. What a great way to go. Well done Richard Bayan.

About the Author
D. Stanley Eitzen is professor emeritus in sociology from Colorado State University, where previously he was the John N. Stern Distinguished Professor.  He recieved his Ph.D. from the Unitsity of Kansas.  Among his books are: Social Problems, which was awarded the McGuffey Longevity Award for excellence over multiple editions in 2000 by the Text and Academic Authors Association, and Diversity in Families (both co-authored with Maxine Baca Zinn), Solutions to Social Problems: Lessons from Other Societies (with Graig S. Leeham) ,  Paths to Homelessness: Extreme Poverty and the Urban Housing Crisis (with Doug A. Timmer and Kathryn Talley), Sociology of North American Sport (with George H. Sage,) and Fair and Foul: Rethinking the Myths and Paradoxes of Sport.  He has served as the president of the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport and as editor of The Social Science Journal.

 

Kelly Eitzen Smith received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Arizona in 1999.  She is currently the director of the Center for Applied Sociology and a lecturer at the University of Arizona.  At the Center for Applied Sociology she has conducted research in the areas of day labor, homelessness, poverty, urban housing and neighborhood development. Her sociological interests include gender, family, sexuality, stratification, and social problems.  She is the co-author of Experiencing Poverty, 1/e, Social Problems 11/e, and In Conflict and Order 12/e (forthcoming).
